What size heat pump do I need?

Heat pumps are rated in BTU. Most residential pools use a 100K to 140K BTU unit. Larger pools, cooler areas and screened enclosures with more wind may need more capacity.

Do heat pumps work in cold weather?

They work best when the air is above about 50 degrees. Below that, output drops. If you swim year round in a cold area, a gas heater or a heat and cool model may fit better.

Do I need a dedicated circuit?

Yes. Most pool heat pumps run on 230V and need their own breaker sized to the unit. Check the spec sheet for the exact amperage.
