What does the #51 and the 2,000 to 6,000 ft rating mean?
Gas heaters burn a specific air to fuel ratio, and thinner air at altitude changes that ratio. Raypak builds this unit with an orifice sized for elevations between 2,000 and 6,000 feet. Installed at sea level it will run rich, lose efficiency, and can trip fault codes. Confirm your elevation first. Below 2,000 feet you want the standard altitude model.
How is the 009222 different from the 009221?
Output. The 009221 is 266,000 BTU and the 009222 is 336,000 BTU. Both are digital natural gas units with electronic ignition. Larger pools, spa combinations, and colder climates want the 336K.
Will this heat a spa as well as a pool?
Yes. It is rated for pool and spa service, and the digital thermostat lets you hold separate setpoints.
How does it ship?
As LTL freight on a pallet. The carrier calls to schedule a delivery appointment and someone needs to be present to sign. Inspect the carton before signing. Note any damage on the bill of lading at the time of delivery, because a clean signed BOL closes out freight damage claims.
What happens if the heater has a problem after it is installed?
Once a heater is installed it is covered under the Raypak manufacturer warranty, and Raypak handles diagnosis and parts through their service network at 800-472-9725. Installed units cannot be returned. Call us before installing if anything about the unit looks wrong out of the carton.
