Pentair | 461113 | ETi 400 High-Efficiency Natural Gas Pool Heater, 400K BTU, Titanium Heat Exchanger
Couldn't load pickup availability
The Pentair 461113 is an ETi 400 high-efficiency natural gas pool and spa heater rated at 400,000 BTU. It uses a titanium heat exchanger and a condensing design that extracts additional heat from the flue gases, which is what separates it from a standard MasterTemp.
Features
- 400,000 BTU output for large pools and pool and spa combinations
- High-efficiency condensing design recovers heat that a standard heater sends out the flue
- Titanium heat exchanger resists corrosion from salt, low pH, and aggressive water chemistry
- Low NOx certified combustion
- Digital control interface with diagnostics
- Connects to Pentair automation systems
- Lower fuel cost per BTU delivered than a conventional gas heater

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the ETi 400 different from a MasterTemp 400?
The ETi is a condensing heater. It pulls extra heat out of the exhaust instead of venting it, so it burns less gas for the same water temperature. It also uses a titanium heat exchanger rather than copper or cupro-nickel. The tradeoff is a higher purchase price and a condensate drain requirement.
Is the ETi 400 a heat pump?
No. It is a gas fired heater. Pentair's hybrid units that pair a heat pump with gas are the UltraTemp ETi models, which are different products.
Why titanium instead of cupro-nickel?
Titanium is effectively immune to the corrosion that attacks copper and cupro-nickel in saltwater pools and low pH water. On a condensing heater it also handles the acidic condensate.
What size pool does 400,000 BTU suit?
Large in-ground pools and pool and spa combinations. Sizing depends on surface area, temperature rise, and climate, so have a pool professional size it for your install.
Is it worth the extra cost over a standard gas heater?
It depends on how much you run it. Heavy users in cold climates recover the difference through lower gas bills. Occasional users on a mild-climate pool often do not.
Does it need professional installation?
Yes, and more so than a standard heater. Condensing units need a condensate drain and specific venting in addition to gas sizing and electrical.
