The Pentair 461112 is an ETi 250 high-efficiency natural gas pool and spa heater rated at 250,000 BTU. It uses a condensing design that extracts additional heat from the flue gases, which is what separates it from a standard MasterTemp.

Features

  • 250,000 BTU output for mid-size and larger pools
  • High-efficiency condensing design recovers heat that a standard heater sends out the flue
  • Corrosion resistant heat exchanger built for demanding water chemistry
  • Low NOx certified combustion
  • Digital control interface with diagnostics
  • Connects to Pentair automation systems
  • Lower fuel cost per BTU delivered than a conventional gas heater

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the ETi 250 different from a MasterTemp 250?

The ETi is a condensing heater. It pulls extra heat out of the exhaust instead of venting it, so it burns less gas for the same water temperature. The tradeoff is a higher purchase price and a condensate drain requirement.

Is the ETi 250 a heat pump?

No. It is a gas fired heater. Pentair's hybrid units that pair a heat pump with gas are the UltraTemp ETi models, which are different products.

Should I choose the ETi 250 or the ETi 400?

250K suits mid-size pools on a normal schedule. Step to the 461113 at 400K for a large pool, a spa you want hot fast, or a colder climate.

What size pool does 250,000 BTU suit?

Mid-size to larger in-ground pools. Sizing depends on surface area, temperature rise, and climate, so have a pool professional size it for your install.

Is it worth the extra cost over a standard gas heater?

It depends on how much you run it. Heavy users in cold climates recover the difference through lower gas bills. Occasional users on a mild-climate pool often do not.

Does it need professional installation?

Yes, and more so than a standard heater. Condensing units need a condensate drain and specific venting in addition to gas sizing and electrical.
