Dr. Dryden's Activate is an activated glass filter media designed to replace traditional sand in compatible swimming pool filters. The media is made from recycled glass that undergoes a specialized decontamination, sterilization, shaping, and activation process to improve filtration performance.
This 25 lb Grade 2 Coarse media is designed for the bottom layer of the filter, with Grade 1 Fine Activate installed above it.

Dr. Dryden's Activate is engineered as a permanent alternative to traditional sand, zeolite, and crushed-glass filter media. Its activated surface is designed to resist bacterial growth and biofilm formation while providing increased surface area for capturing contaminants from pool water.
The A999009 configuration is specifically the Grade 2 Coarse media in a 25 lb bag. During filter loading, Grade 2 is installed at the bottom with Grade 1 Fine media layered above it. The amount required depends on the sand capacity specified by the filter manufacturer.
