A pressure-side cleaner that used to zip around the pool and now barely crawls is almost always a water pressure problem, not a cleaner problem. What does the Hayward W36060 booster pump actually do?

It gives your pressure-side cleaner the extra push it needs to drive its wheels and lift debris. Your main filter pump alone does not put out enough pressure at the cleaner line, so the W36060 sits downstream and boosts it.

That also means the booster pump only runs when the cleaner is supposed to run, usually on a timer or an automation relay. It is a dedicated pump with one job, so when it slacks off, the cleaner is the first thing to show it.

Why is my pressure-side cleaner not moving?

If the cleaner sits still or drags, start with these. They cover most of the calls we get.

Why does my booster pump keep tripping the breaker?

A booster pump that trips the breaker is drawing more current than it should. That is a real electrical fault, not something to reset over and over.

Common causes are a failing motor with shorted windings, moisture that got into the motor housing, a bad capacitor, or wiring that has corroded at the connections.
