Pentair GloBrite vs. MicroBrite: Which 12V LED Pool Light Should You Buy? (602055 vs 620425)
Shopping for a small LED pool light usually comes down to two Pentair options: the GloBrite 602055 and the MicroBrite 620425. They look similar on paper. Both are 12V, both are color-changing, and both come with a 100 ft cord. So which one belongs in your pool?

What's the difference between the GloBrite 602055 and the MicroBrite 620425?
The short answer: both are compact nicheless LED lights, but the MicroBrite 620425 is the smaller of the two, while the GloBrite 602055 is the larger, more established fixture that's been the go-to small Pentair light for years. Nicheless means neither one needs a big traditional light niche in the pool wall. They install into a standard fitting instead.
That matters because it changes what each light is compatible with. If you're replacing an existing light, the easiest path is almost always to match what's already in the wall. A GloBrite swaps cleanly for a GloBrite. A MicroBrite goes where a MicroBrite (or a compatible small fitting) already is.
Is the GloBrite or MicroBrite brighter?
For most residential pools, both put out plenty of light, and one fixture per pool section is usually enough for a standard backyard pool. The GloBrite 602055 is a full-size small light, so it tends to fill a larger pool more evenly. The MicroBrite runs 14 watts and is built to do a lot with a little, which is part of why people like using them in pairs or in spas.
If you have a bigger pool and only want one light, lean GloBrite. If you're lighting a spa, a tanning ledge, or you plan to run two or more lights for even coverage, the MicroBrite 620425 makes a lot of sense.
What about colors and light shows?
Both lights change colors. The GloBrite 602055 gives you 5 fixed colors plus 7 pre-programmed light shows, so you can hold a solid color or let it cycle. The MicroBrite 620425 is an RGB color light as well, with fixed colors and show modes of its own.
If you're syncing lights to a Pentair automation system, both play nicely in that setup. Just make sure every light on the same circuit is from the same family so the colors stay in sync when you switch modes. Mixing a GloBrite with a MicroBrite on one switch can leave the shows out of step.
Which one is compatible with my pool?
Check two things before you buy: the fitting in your wall and your transformer. Both the 602055 and the 620425 are 12V lights, so they need a low-voltage transformer, not a direct 120V line. If you're replacing an older 12V light, you likely have this covered already. If this is new construction or a remodel, your builder will spec the fitting, and either light can be planned in.
The 100 ft cord on both models covers most equipment pad runs. Pentair also makes these lights in other cord lengths, so measure your conduit run before ordering. You can trim extra cord, but you can't stretch a short one.
Price: GloBrite 602055 vs. MicroBrite 620425
Price won't settle this one. As of this writing, the GloBrite 602055 runs $449.00 and the MicroBrite 620425 runs $455.00. They're within a few dollars of each other, so pick based on fit and coverage, not cost.
Bottom line: which should you buy?
Buy the GloBrite 602055 if you want one light to cover a standard pool, or you're replacing an existing GloBrite. Buy the MicroBrite 620425 if you're lighting a spa or ledge, running multiple lights, or replacing an existing MicroBrite. Matching the fixture that's already in your wall is the safest call every time.
