Pentair 357527Z Keypad: Which IntelliFlo Pumps It Fits (and Which It Doesn't)
The Pentair 357527Z keypad is one of the most returned parts in our store. Not because there's anything wrong with it. It gets returned because it only fits certain IntelliFlo and IntelliPro pumps, and a lot of people order it for a pump it doesn't fit. Five minutes of checking before you buy will save you a return trip to the post office.
This guide covers exactly which pumps the 357527Z is compatible with, how to check what you have, and what to order instead if your pump isn't on the list.
Which pumps is the Pentair 357527Z keypad compatible with?
The 357527Z keypad fits IntelliFlo 2 and IntelliPro 2 variable speed pump drives. Specifically, it works with these six pump models: 011028, 011055, 011056, 011057, 011059, and 011060.
If your pump's model number matches one of those, you're good. This is a genuine Pentair OEM part, so it installs on the existing drive connections and restores full access to speeds, schedules, and diagnostics.
The one it does NOT fit is the original IntelliFlo 1 drive. That's where almost all the returns come from. The plug and the electronics are different, so the keypad simply won't work on an IntelliFlo 1, no matter how similar it looks in photos.
How do I know if the 357527Z will fit my pump?
Check the model number on your pump's data plate or label. It's usually on the motor end or the base of the pump, and it will be a six digit number like 011056.
- If the model number is 011028, 011055, 011056, 011057, 011059, or 011060, the 357527Z keypad is the right part.
- If you see a different model number, or the label is gone, take a photo of the pump and the drive and send it to us before ordering. We match keypads to pumps all the time and it takes us a minute.
If the label is too faded to read, the age of the pump is a decent clue. The IntelliFlo 1 is the older generation, so if your pump has been running since the early days of variable speed pumps, there's a real chance you have the older drive.
Is it the keypad that's bad, or the whole drive?
If the pump still runs its schedule but the buttons don't respond or the display is dead or garbled, the keypad is the likely problem. The keypad is the part that takes the most abuse from sun, heat, and wet fingers, and it often fails before the drive does.
Signs that point to a bad keypad:
- Buttons that don't respond, or only work when you press hard in one corner
- A blank or faded display while the pump keeps running on its old program
- A cracked or bubbled overlay where water has gotten in
If the pump won't power on at all, keeps tripping the breaker, or shuts down with drive errors, the problem is probably deeper than the keypad. In that case replacing the keypad won't fix it, and you should look at the drive itself before spending money on this part.
What if I have an IntelliFlo 1?
The 357527Z will not work on an IntelliFlo 1 drive, period. If your keypad died on an IntelliFlo 1, the fix is a full drive replacement kit (Pentair part 356879Z). That kit brings the whole drive up to the newer generation, which then uses this style of keypad going forward.
It costs more than a keypad alone, but it's the only correct path. Ordering the 357527Z and hoping it works on the older drive is how this part earned its return rate.
How to replace the 357527Z keypad
Replacement is a simple job for most pool owners. The general steps:
- Kill power to the pump at the breaker. Not just the pump's off button, the breaker.
- Remove the screws holding the old keypad to the drive.
- Carefully disconnect the keypad's connector from the drive. Note how it was seated.
- Connect the new 357527Z, seat it flat, and reinstall the screws snugly. Don't overtighten, the housing is plastic.
- Restore power and reprogram your speeds and schedules.
Your old programs may not carry over, so jot down your speed settings before you start if the old display still works at all.
The short version
The Pentair 357527Z keypad fits pump models 011028, 011055, 011056, 011057, 011059, and 011060. It does not fit the IntelliFlo 1 drive, and IntelliFlo 1 owners need the 356879Z drive kit instead. Check your pump's model number first, and if there's any doubt, ask us before you order.
