GLX-PCB-MAIN vs. GLX-PCB-PRO vs. GLX-PCB-RITE: Which Hayward Main Board Do You Need?
We see this mix-up at the counter every week. A customer's Hayward salt system or automation panel quits, they find out the main board is the problem, and they order a replacement. Then the box shows up and the board doesn't match their system. Hayward makes three lookalike Goldline main boards, the GLX-PCB-MAIN, the GLX-PCB-PRO, and the GLX-PCB-RITE, and each one only works in certain control panels.

Which Hayward main board fits which system?
The short answer: the GLX-PCB-MAIN is the main board for Aqua Logic systems, the GLX-PCB-PRO fits ProLogic and AquaPlus systems, and the GLX-PCB-RITE is only for the Aqua Rite salt chlorine generator.

- GLX-PCB-RITE: replacement main board for the standalone Hayward Aqua Rite salt system.
They are not interchangeable. A GLX-PCB-RITE will not run an Aqua Logic panel, and a GLX-PCB-MAIN will not fix a ProLogic. The right board depends entirely on which system is bolted to your equipment pad.
Why do these boards get mixed up so often?
Because they look nearly the same in photos. All three are green Goldline circuit boards with similar layouts, similar connectors, and similar part number formats. Online listings don't help, since plenty of them lump the boards together or tag them with every system name to catch more searches.
On top of that, people often search for something like "Hayward salt system board not working" and click the first result that says it's compatible with their setup. If that listing is wrong or vague, you end up with the wrong part and a pool that's still down a week later.
How do I know which Hayward system I have?
Check the label on the front of your control panel enclosure. It will say Aqua Logic, ProLogic, AquaPlus, or Aqua Rite right on the door or faceplate.
If the label is faded or missing, open the panel (with the power off at the breaker first) and look for a model sticker inside the enclosure. Snap a photo of it. That sticker, plus a photo of your existing board, is the fastest way for us or any supplier to confirm you're ordering the right replacement.
How can I tell if the main board is actually bad?
A bad main board usually shows up as a dead or scrambled display, no response from buttons, relays that never click on, or a salt system that stops producing chlorine even though the cell tests fine. But the board is also the most expensive guess you can make, so rule out the cheap stuff first.
- Confirm the panel is getting power and the breaker hasn't tripped.
- Check the fuses inside the panel. A blown fuse mimics a dead board.
- Inspect the board for burn marks, corrosion, or swollen components. Visible damage is a strong sign.
- On salt systems, make sure the cell and its cable are clean and connected. A worn cell can look like a board problem.
If power is good, fuses are good, and the panel still won't respond or won't fire its relays, the main board is the likely culprit.
What does replacing a Hayward main board involve?
It's a manageable job for a careful DIYer. Kill power at the breaker, photograph every wire and connector before touching anything, then transfer connections one at a time from the old board to the new one. The photos matter more than you think. Most callbacks we hear about come from one swapped wire, not a defective board.
If you're not comfortable working inside a panel with line voltage wiring, have a pool tech or electrician do the swap. The part cost is the same either way, and a clean install protects your new board.
One more check before you buy
Match the board to the system name, not the photo. Aqua Logic panels take the GLX-PCB-MAIN. ProLogic and AquaPlus panels take the GLX-PCB-PRO. Aqua Rite salt systems take the GLX-PCB-RITE.
